It's official: TV Time shut down for good on July 15, 2026. Since that date, the app has been off the stores, the website has been offline, and all account data has been deleted — every episode you checked off, every rating, every hour on that counter you watched grow for years. Anyone who downloaded their export in time took their history with them. This guide shows you how to bring that ZIP into Episodary.
What happened to TV Time on July 15, 2026
Whip Media, the company behind TV Time, announced it was discontinuing the app to focus on AI products for businesses. In practice, starting July 15, 2026:
- The app was removed from the App Store and Google Play;
- The tvtime.com website went offline;
- All personal account data was deleted — permanently.
The detail that caught a lot of people off guard: the data export could only be generated while TV Time was still online — that is, until July 15. After that, there's no way to recover anything. It's no longer a reason to rush — it's a reason, if you already have the ZIP saved, to bring it to a home where this never happens again.
How the export used to work (the portal went offline on July 15)
Whip Media itself had made an official, GDPR-based export tool available. That's how people downloaded their complete history — for the record, here's how it worked:
- 1. You'd go to the official export portal: gdpr.tvtime.com/gdpr/self-service (the address is offline today). You could also get there through the app's settings by requesting your data.
- 2. You'd sign in with your TV Time account — the same credentials used in the app.
- 3. You'd request the data export. The system would prepare the file, which could take a few minutes depending on the size of your history.
- 4. You'd download the ZIP file once it was ready.
- 5. You'd keep that ZIP somewhere safe. A copy on your drive, email, or anywhere you wouldn't lose it. After July 15, that file became the only possible copy of that history.
That path doesn't exist anymore. If you didn't get around to generating your export before the 15th, the data has been deleted and there's no way to recover it — not through Whip Media, not through us, not through anyone.
What was inside the TV Time export
The ZIP gathered everything each person built in the app over the years:
- Shows and episodes marked as watched, with dates;
- Watched movies and your watchlist;
- Your ratings and reviews;
- Profile details and activity history.
The files were in CSV and JSON format — nothing you needed to open or make sense of. What mattered was having the ZIP saved. Reading it is the job of whoever welcomes your history on the other side.
How to bring your TV Time history into Episodary
